How should a cat be measured for a collar, clothing, and other accessories?
Cat owners are strongly advised to read this information before purchasing any clothing, collars, or accessories. Collars and other accessories are included in this category. Your cat’s sophistication will rise as a result of reading this guide, which will help you find the perfect outfit for your feline companion.
It’s possible that other brands and products for cats have different sizing criteria than the ones we’ve presented here.
If your pet’s measurements fall in between two sizes, we suggest ordering the next larger size just to be safe.
It is important to measure your pet to get the best fit collar!
A simple measuring tape will suffice for this task. A collar should fit snugly around your pet’s neck. Take care not to overmeasure.
Use a piece of string to tie a collar around your pet’s neck instead of a buckle. Then, using a ruler or measuring tape, determine the string’s length.
When measuring a pet’s collar, put two fingers under the measuring device to ensure that the collar is loose enough for comfort but not loose enough to fall off.
Just a few minutes to take an accurate measurement will help ensure that you will be pleased with your pet’s new collar!
CLOTHES & APPAREL
- Measure the length of the pet’s back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
- Measure neck circumference.
- Measure the broadest part of the chest. If the measurement is between sizes, we recommend going up one size. Also, if the pet has a stout build, a deep chest, or is overweight, we recommend going up a minimum of one size for proper fit. If the animal is long-backed, a smaller size is recommended.
