9+ Must-have Accessories & Simple Cat-costumes for Humans

Are you making preparations to dress up as a cat for the upcoming Halloween party or the Cosplay gathering?

No matter if you choose to go for a sensual, simple, cute, hilarious, or terrifying cat costume theme, there are a few essential elements that you will need to complete the look.

If your cat costume doesn’t come with cat ears or a cattail, you’re going to need to purchase those accessories separately in order to complete your transition into a cat. You’ll also need something to change the appearance of your face, so be sure to check out our selection of cat masks, makeup, and whiskers. You can also want to wear a collar around your neck and give your hands the appearance of having claws on them.

If your desire is to make your entire Halloween costume, we’ve put together a list of resources to help you learn how to make your own cat costume for Halloween.

Cat Mask

If the cat mask is not included with your costume, you might want to think about purchasing one separately. A cat mask can save you from enduring hours of torment while your face is painted and conceal your identity from anyone who might try to take one of your nine lives.

When you go to purchase your Halloween mask, you need to make sure that you get one that is the right size (either adult or child as the case may be). You definitely don’t want the incorrect size mask to be delivered to your house just a few days before Halloween!

Cat Ears

It is impossible for you to successfully transform from a human into a cat if you do not have a set of cat ears perched on the top of your head. You’ll be able to hear twice as much at the Halloween party if you have two sets of ears, after all.

Cat Tails

The tail is often included with cat costumes. If it doesn’t come with your cat costume and you don’t want people to wonder who lopped off your tail, you’ll need to either buy one or make one so that you can complete your look. It is one of the more important accessories (along with cat ears and cat whiskers) that helps people recognise that you are wearing a cat costume and not just a black outfit out of your closet. This is because it helps people distinguish between a cat costume and a simple black outfit.

We’ve found a few different options that you can attach to your posterior and use as a jovial prop to swing at the other people who are attending the party, including:

Cay Eyes

Looking like a feline goddess is easy with the right cat eye makeup. Follow these simple steps to get the look:

  • Start with a light base or primer. This will help keep your makeup in place and make it last longer.
  • Apply your eyeshadow in a neutral shade all over your lid and crease. Use a light hand when applying this, as too much shadow can make your eyes look big and heavy.
  • Next, use a dark liner to create the outline of your cat’s eye shape. Be sure to go slightly beyond the edge of your eyelid so that you have some extra liner for shading later on.
  • Then, use a light brown shade to fill in the inner corner of your eye and around your pupil.
  • Finally, use a dark brown shade to create the outer edge of your cat’s eye. Blend this outwards so that it’s slightly blended into the crease but still visible.
  • To finish, use a light pink blush to add some brightness to your cheeks and a touch of bronzer to give you a healthy glow.
  • Apply mascara and lip gloss, don’t forget about your cat eye contact lenses, then enjoy looking like a cute or seductive kitty!

Cat Whiskers

Whiskers are easy to find and inexpensive, so they’re a great option if you don’t have time or money to invest in more elaborate costumes. Just be sure to get them fitted properly so they look realistic and don’t snag on things while you’re performing your act.

Cat Claws

We all know that it’s the little details that make or break a costume. If you don’t want to pretend to be a declawed cat, then you’re going to need to do something about your nails.

If you want to recreate a cat’s nails for your costume, then you have a couple of options. If you have long fingernails already, then you could simply paint your fingernails black. If you don’t, then you can use fake nails to give you the look of a cat’s long claws. You can find fingernail kits below to help you with your cat The other option is to purchase a pair of gloves that includes the cat’s claws.

We’ve found those too for you! Check them both out and decide which option works better for you.

Cat Collars

If you get separated from your owner at the Halloween party, you’ll need a collar so that whoever finds you can help you get back to the right home. Otherwise, they’ll have to take you to the shelter instead!

In all seriousness, a collar or choker with a bell can be a cute and realistic finishing touch to your cat costume. If you don’t have something that will work, you can choose one from our selection:

Cat Makeup

Whether your goal is to transform your face into the face of a member of the cat family like the lion, tiger, or leopard, or simply to add a few simple black whiskers around your nose, you’ll need the right makeup to finish off your cat costume. Choose from among our selection of costume makeup that can be used to complete your Halloween costume:

Cat Costume Kit

Don’t want to buy these items individually? Consider one of the all-inclusive cat costumes or select one of our recommended cat accessories kits and save!

If you have a black jumpsuit, a black jumper, or a pair of black slacks and a black shirt, you can handmake your own cat costume without the expense of buying the whole outfit. It may not look quite as nice as if you had purchased the costume from a professional costume designer, but it will certainly be easier on your budget. Plus, you’ll be able to wear the outfit (minus the cat accessories, of course!) more than one day a year.

So we’ve put together a list of places that sell cat kits in case you aren’t looking to buy your cat costume all in one place. These kits usually contain cat ears, a cat tail, and some sort of bow tie or cat collar. Be sure to read the product description in order to determine which accessories the kit contains.

What costumes to wear for a cat lover?

Whether you are 6 months or 60 years old, a cat costume makes a great Halloween costume for cat lovers.

  • Cat Loving Baby

Everyone will be loving on your baby at Halloween when you dress him or her in a cute toddler cat costume.  But he’ll always be your cute and cuddly soft little kitten!  Be sure to preserve the memories as they grow up fast and you won’t always be able to dictate their Halloween costume.

  • Cat Loving Child

If they love the zoo then they’ll love dressing up in a lion or tiger costume!  Are you just teaching them to read?  Make Halloween a learning activity and consider one of the popular Cat in the Hat costumes.

  • Cat Loving Teenager

Teen Halloween costumes are always a challenge. It’s an awkward stage between childhood and adults in which teens are just trying to fit in with their friends and rebel against their families. Parents don’t want to let them wear anything inappropriate and teenagers don’t want to wear anything that their parents would approve of.

A cat costume is a good compromise between the sexy costumes which they would like to wear and the more modest costumes which you’ll be comfortable with them wearing for Halloween.

We know that it can be difficult selecting a Halloween costume for a teenager, so we’ve included a few teen cat costumes that we think might work:

Of course, some teenagers may be able to choose from adult cat costumes. We hope that this costume decision occurs after consultation between the teen and the parents!

  • Cat Loving Adults

There was a time when Halloween was a holiday primarily for kids. Adults were in charge of making their kid’s Halloween costumes, handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters, and throwing the occasional Halloween party for teenagers.

But adults weren’t happy letting their children have all the fun! So they took their fond memories of dressing up for Halloween and their love of a good excuse to party to make Halloween almost as popular as Christmas. If you are looking for a costume because you’ve been invited to a Halloween party, then you are in for a real treat.

We’ve provided links to four adult Halloween cat costumes below, but we’ve got a much larger selection if you surf the rest of this website.
